Choosing a Router for Your Smartaira Internet

Overview

To get the best performance, we recommend choosing a router that supports gigabit (1G) speeds so you can fully enjoy your internet service.

What to Look for in a Router

When shopping for a router, make sure it has:

  • A gigabit (1G) Ethernet (WAN/Internet) port
  • Dual-band or tri-band WiFi
  • WiFi 6 (or newer) for better performance (recommended, but not required)

Tip:
Routers labeled with “AX” (like AX3000 or AX5400) typically support newer WiFi technology and faster speeds.

Do I Need a Specific Brand?

No—you can use any brand of router as long as it supports gigabit (1G) speeds.

What Should I Avoid?

We recommend avoiding:

  • Older or budget routers that don’t support gigabit speeds
  • Routers that may limit your internet performance

These can result in slower speeds or connection issues.

Important to Know

  • Your internet comes from the Ethernet wall port
  • The router is only used to create WiFi inside your home

You can plug a device directly into the Ethernet port to get internet right away, even before setting up your router.
