We understand that unexpected charges can be confusing. Here are some of the most common reasons your bill may appear higher than usual:
First Bill (New Accounts)
Your first invoice may be higher because it can include more than one billing period.
- Your first invoice is generated when your service is activated
- It may include up to two months of service
- Your due date is typically 20 days after activation
- In some cases, part of your first month may already be covered by an initial payment or promotional credit
Annual Price Adjustment
Like many service providers, Smartaira may apply a small annual price adjustment:
- Typically around $2.50 per year or ~4%
Account Changes
Changes to your account can affect your billing amount, such as:
- Upgrading your service
- Changing your package
- Adjusting your billing date
Proration Adjustments
If changes are made during your billing cycle, your bill may include prorated charges. This means you are only charged for the time the service or change was active.
Common reasons include:
- Starting new service
- Changing your billing date
- Upgrading your plan
- Payment arrangements or special requests
Why Is My First Bill Different from What I Was Told?
Your first bill may look different than expected due to how billing cycles are set up:
- Your first invoice is created at activation
- It is typically due 20 days after activation
- It may include two billing periods
- Your second billing cycle may begin shortly after your first due date
This setup ensures your account aligns with your ongoing billing schedule.
